"It's time for lunch"

No man is allowed to dance with a woman he does not know...
so lunch and teatime offer the opportunity
to introduce yourself to the esteemed ladies
and be introduced to them.

Please approach the oldest gentleman or lady at the table
and ask to be introduced to the "chosen one"
so that you can be added to your dance list.
This way, nothing stands in the way of a joint dance.

Lunch was a fairly new "invention".
As breakfast was eaten earlier and dinner later in the Regency,
the need arose to bridge the time in between with a snack.

This snack became "lunch" and was eaten
between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. It was also around this time
that the first sandwiches were seen, although not as we know them today -
in the Regency period they were very small triangles
that were eaten with a knife and fork.
Cakes and fruit were often served alongside this cold cuts.
So lunch is a meal that shouldn't be made too much fuss about.
