dance through the dances of the ball
A „walkthrough“ two days preparation
4th & 5th June 2026 • Johanniskirche • Eichstätt
For the first time, the Fast Dance Through will take place over two days,
because it has become apparent that doing all the dances in one day is a bit too strenuous,
especially since some Triple Minors will be enriching our program again this time.
The repertoire I have developed offers
a wealth of dances
that flourished between 1770 and 1820.
These will all be shown again at the ball.
Nevertheless, it is also good for more experienced dancers to
go through all the dances again once or twice in a relaxed atmosphere before the ball and, if necessary,
learn the variations in the different versions
(e.g., my very different version of Mr. Beveridge's Maggot).
This also allows you to get to know the other ball participants a little.
Because the ball itself is always over far too quickly...
This course is limited to a relatively brisk dance through
all the ball dances together with the participants of the preparatory course.
Everyone who cannot attend the ball is also welcome to join us in this course to get to know all these beautiful dances.

The participants learn and concentrate
on the sequence of figures in the dances.
Die Grundschritte die einem geläufig sein sollten
(wie Chassés, Pas ferme und Saute croix),
die Footing-Figuren (Setting, Balances, Rigaudon, etc.),
alle Allemandenfiguren,
und auch diese verschiedenen Tanzfiguren sollte man kennen,
(wie „Change sides”, „Right & Left”, „Right & Left hands”,
„Hey on the other side”, „Turn Corners”, „Swing Corners”,
„Half” and „Whole Pousette” und viele mehr)
werden gezeigt und geübt.
Damit Sie sich darauf vorbereiten können,
habe ich versucht, viele der gängisten Schritte und Figuren aufzulisten.

German is predominantly spoken during the courses.
At the ball, all calls are as in German and English,
I use the historical English names for the dance figures.
I use the figure catalogs of the era as a guide.
A list/catalog of the figures and the dances
are already available online.

For less experienced dancers, I recommend the preparatory course offered
or limiting themselves to dancing the easy dances,
which are marked with an * in the evening program.
